Meet the 2011 Executive Board!

 

The Marching 97 is a completely student run organization with the exception of  guidance from our Faculty Advisor.  Read on to learn about the 11 Executives that comprise this year’s board!

Manager - Liz Zeffiro

The manager of the Marching 97 is the leader of the band off the field.  In charge of most of the band’s administrative duties, the manager of the Marching 97 is responsible for things like running exec meetings and communicating with the administration.  The manager can be contacted at Manager@marching97.org.


Liz Zeffiro, this year’s manager, is a member of the class of 2012 and a  Music Composition major.

Drum Major - Josh Westbrook

The Marching 97’s drum major is responsible for running field practice and leading the band in performances.  The drum major is responsible for writing the first drill (field show) of the season and organizing drill writers for the rest of the season.  Traditionally, the drum major also performs some impressive aerobics during Marching Lehigh on game day.  Contact the Drum Major at DrumMajor@marching97.org.


The position of drum major is held by Josh Westbrook this year.  He is a Computer Engineering major in the class of 2012.

Staff Assistant - Frank Artmont

As the financial officer of the Marching 97, the staff assistant is in charge of the budget and money.  The staff assistant is responsible for helping the manager with various administrative duties of the band, like paperwork and attendance.  The staff assistant also does a fantastic job of planning the Band Banquet every year!  The Marching 97's staff assistant can be reached by emailing StaffAssist@marching97.org.


This year, the position of staff assistant is held by Frank Artmont, a Civil Engineering major in the class of 2012.

Publicity Manager - Brandon Bensel

Other than publicity, the main responsibility of the publicity manager of the Marching 97 is Alumni Relations.  The publicity manager is responsible for things like the website, writing the  announcements that are read before field shows, and communicating with athletics.  The publicity manager can be contacted at PubManager@marching97.org.


This year’s publicity manager, Brandon Bensel, is a Molecular Biology major in the class of 2013.

Freshmen Managers (Refrosh & Refritch) - Cristiano Lima & Maddie Beck

The freshmen managers of the Marching 97 are responsible for recruitment and retention of members of the 97.  The Freshman Managers are in charge of planning Marching 97 involvement in Candidates Days and providing information to prospective members of the band.  So if you’re thinking about joining the Marching 97, definitely don’t hesitate to email one of the Freshmen managers at Refrosh@marching97.org (male) or Refritch@marching97.org (female).


This year, the position of refrosh is held by Cristiano Lima, Psychology and Political Science major in the class of 2013.  This year’s refritch is Maddie Beck, Mechanical Engineering major in the class of 2013.

Instrument Manager (Toots) - Charlie Yingling

Most members of the Marching 97 use instruments that belong to the band.  The instrument manager is responsible for distribution maintenance, and transportation of these instruments.  The instrument manager  is also responsible for various technical needs of the band such as the drum major podium, water coolers, and first aid equipment.  The instrument manager can be contacted at Toots@marching97.org.


The position of toots is held by Charlie Yingling this season.  He is an Engineering major in the class of 2014.

Uniform Manager (Suits) - Sarah Pontician

The uniform manager is responsible for making sure everyone in the band looks their best on game day.  The uniform manager is in charge of distribution and maintenance of official and unofficial uniforms.  The uniform manager can be contacted by emailing Suits@marching97.org.


The position of Suits is held by Sarah Pontician this year.  She is a Business major in the class of 2014.

Student Conductor - Dan Cannistraci

The student conductor of the Marching 97 is responsible for conducting the band in the stands during football games and at other performances.  Besides conducting, the responsibilities of the student conductor include rehearsing music with the band and selecting music by ordering new pieces, arranging music, or choosing from the the many pieces of the Marching 97’s extensive music library.  The student conductor can be reached at StudCon@marching97.org.


This season, the student conductor is Dan Cannistraci in the class of 2013.  He is an Environmental Engineering Major.

Librarian- Noelle Smart

As the title suggests, the librarian of the Marching 97 is responsible for the organization of the band’s music library.  The librarian is in charge of copying and distributing music to the members of the Marching 97 so that all members of the band have all of the appropriate copies in their folders.  The librarian can be contacted at Librarian@marching97.org.


The position of Librarian is held by Noelle Smart this year.  She is a  Women’s Studies major and Physics minor in the class of 2012.

Senior Representative - Chris Bingold

The Senior Representative of the Marching 97 has several various and somewhat random responsibilities.  The responsibilities of the senior representative include acquiring food for the band on game days, acquiring and distributing senior gifts and planning the senior dinner at band camp.  The senior representative can be contacted by emailing  SeniorRep@marching97.org.


This season, the senior representative is Chris Bingold in the class of 2012.  His major is Supply Chain Management.
